Education is our passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to the people who prepare for it today.
Slavery Remembrance is an organisation established to change the way the Transatlantic Slave Trade is remembered, acknowledged, understood and commemorated internationally. Our goal is to start a global movement by working together through a network of individuals, organisations, national and international gatherings and campaigns and events.
To enable this to happen people and teams all across the nation pushing this common vision are needed. All this requires time, investment and application of individual expertise, will and determination.
The challenge is set and it will take the collective effort of a strong, dedicated and united community to to ensure we meet and surpass that challenge.
We want to see real and lasting change happen and we need your help to achieve this. If you care about your history and community like we do then get involved and become a member!
We need everything from local ambassadors to experienced professionals. Please join us and be part of something great.
For a list of some of the positions we currently need support with please check out our ‘Get Involved‘ page.
We shall be holding a number of events with various partners which not only educate people on the transatlantic slave trade, but also educate people about the African continent and its great history pre and post the slave trade.
Our events shall be held with the purpose of educating, promoting and inspiring. Events shall include talks, films, school and community workshops and the arts with most events taking place during our ‘Afro-Fusion Festival’ which will be held in the weeks leading up to Slavery Remembrance Day. There is of course also our Slavery Remembrance March and rally which shall become an annual affair, but money is needed for staging, insurance, volunteer training etc.
Please give whatever you can, your donations are needed to help us carryout all the work outlined above.
